Manifesto
Reactions are empty calories.
Every community platform confuses volume with value. Likes, hearts, "great post!", fire emojis. It all looks like engagement. It is almost never contribution.
Earnest applies the Glassdoor rule to community: you get value by giving value first. Real advice. A warm intro. A concrete offer of help. Shared knowledge that saves another member a week.
Contributions are scored by AI against a specific rubric for genuine value. Only contributions that clear the bar unlock the community's most valuable content — the asks, the offers, the members' bios. Reactions render visibly on every card, and they carry zero weight. That is the point.
Every member has a role that tells them how to be active — Connector, Mentor, Host, Contributor, Newcomer. Newcomers must complete one genuine contribution to graduate. Community managers see health metrics, review appeals, and keep a human in the loop for anyone the AI wasn't sure about.
Roadmap: from platform to protocol.
Today, Earnest is a standalone platform — you contribute here, you unlock here. That's on purpose: it proves the give-to-get mechanic before we take it anywhere else.
The vision is bigger: Earnest as a contribution layer that plugs into the tools communities already live in. An Earnest keyboard. Bots and plug-ins for Slack, Discord and WhatsApp. Same rubric, same unlocks, wherever the conversation happens.

These are not live integrations — no buttons, no fake logos. When they ship, they'll ship earnestly.
